New Forest National Park The New Forest is an area of southern England which includes one of the largest remaining tracts of unenclosed pasture land, heathland and forest in south east of England. The villages and towns of the forest include Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst, Ashurst and Beaulieu. Southampton Southampton is a port city, home to all the principal cruise liners, Southampton University, the famous Saints football club as well as the historic docks. The city also offers a variety amenities for all the family, with the West Quay Shopping Centre and the Southampton Art Gallery. Waterside and surrounding areas The village of Hythe lies on the western shore of Southampton Water bordering the New Forest. Hythe is the central village in what is now called the Waterside, with schools, shops, weekly market, churches, library plus pubs and bistros. Totton and Eling Totton and Eling have a population of around 28,000 people. Situated on the eastern edge of the New Forest and close to Southampton, the town centre offers a range of shops to cater to every day needs, including local shops as well as two major supermarkets.
